EDI NVQ Level 4 Learning & Development
Course Introduction
This qualification is designed for those who are involved in delivering learning, designing learning programme's and assessing students needs. This qualification demonstrates the candidate’s skills and provides a nationally recognised qualification in learning and development.
Pre requisites
- Training experience
- Must be working in a learning & development role in order to gain the required evidence for the qualification
Candidates can take up to 18 months to complete the NVQ, however it can be completed within 6 months (subject to candidate commitment and evidence available).
Course Benefits
Students will benefit from the training by:
- On completion of the level 3, progression to NVQ level 4 is available
- You may be entitled to join the Charted Institute of Personnel & Development (CIPD) at Associate level (ACIPD)
- You may be entitled to join the British Institute of Learning & Development at Associate level (ABILD)
- On completion of the Level 4, you gain 60 credits which can be put towards academic degrees at university’s
- You may be entitled to membership with the Institute of Learning at Associate Level (AIFL)

Course Aim
The aim of the course is to develop students skills and abilities to meet the required standards and achieve the Level 4 qualification.
Course Content
Mandatory Core, (7 Units)
- G2 Contribute to learning within the organisation
- G3 Evaluate and develop own practice
- L4 Design Learning Programme's
- L5 Agree learning programme's with learners
- L8 Manage the contribution of other people to the learning process
- L9 Create a climate that promotes learning
- L17 Evaluate and improve learning and development programme's
Option Group A units, (1 from 2 Units)
- L2 Identify individual learning aims and programme's
L3 Identify the learning and development needs of
the organisation
Option Group B units, (4 from 11 Units)
- L7 Prepare and develop resources to support learning
- L13 Enable group learning
- L14 Support learners by mentoring in the workplace
- L15 Support and advise individual learners
- L16 Monitor and review progress with learners
- L18 Respond to changes in learning and development
- L19 Provide learning and development in international settings
- L21 Plan how to provide basic skills in the workplace
- L22 Introduce training for basic skills in the workplace
- A1 Assess candidates using a range of methods
- A2 Assess candidates performance through observation
- V1 Conduct internal quality assurance of the assessment process
Assessment
A portfolio assessment is made through a combination of different assessment methods e.g. observations, witness statements, written, work books etc.
