HSE Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW)
Course Outline
The aim of the course is to provide students with the knowledge and skills to administer Emergency First Aid in the Workplace and receive a nationally recognised and approved qualification by the Health & Safety Executive.
This 1 day course replaces the old "Appointed Person" qualification and is the new standard for first aid training. The need for this course is based on an employers risk assessment. It is however, designed for low risk occupations. This qualification is Approved by the Health & Safety Executive.
Course Content
- The role of the First Aider
- Recording and Reporting
- Importance of Basic Hygiene in First Aid
- Patient Assessment
- Dealing with an Unconscious Casualty
- Perform Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Bleeding & Wounds
- Seizures
- Shock
- Choking
- First Aid for Minor Injury’s e.g. Cuts & Scrapes
Assessment
The course is assessed by a continuous assessment of the students progress throughout the day and performing the required skills of CPR, Bleeding Management, Choking & Unconsciousness.
