Pediatric First Aid (7 Hours)
Course Introduction
This 7 Hour course is designed for teachers, learning support assistants, baby sitters, parents & child carers. This qualification meets the required standards for First Aid for the Care Standards Inspectorate Wales (CSSIW)standards.

Course Aim
The Aim of the course is to provide students with the knowledge and skills to administer First Aid to children and babies and receive a qualification accepted by the Care Standards Inspectorate for Wales.
Course Objectives
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
- State the cause of Unconsciousness
- Perform the Recovery Position on an Unconsciousness Casualty
- Perform Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) (Adult/Baby/Child)
- Perform required choking procedures (Adult/Baby/Child)
- Select and use various dressings to control bleeding
- Identify safety precautions when assessing for danger
- State the procedures for dealing with a baby/child having a seizure
- State the procedures for dealing with a diabetic baby/child
- State the procedures for dealing with a baby/child who has a burn/scald
- State the procedures for dealing with a child/baby with Asthma
- State the procedures for dealing with a child/baby with suspected Meningitis / Septicaemia
- State the procedures for dealing with a child/baby who has a Head Injury
- State the procedures for dealing with a child/baby suspected of being poisoned
- State the procedures for dealing with a casualty who has an Eye Injury
- Select necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) )
