Paediatric First Aid (7 Hours)
Course Outline
The aim of the course is to provide students with the knowledge and skills to administer First Aid to children and babies and receive a qualification accepted by the Care Standards Inspectorate for Wales.
This 7 hour course is designed for teachers, learning support assistants, baby sitters, parents & child carers. This qualification meets the required standards for First Aid for the Care Standards Inspectorate Wales (CSSIW) standards.
Course Content
- The role of the First Aider
- Recording and Reporting
- Importance of Basic Hygiene in First Aid
- Patient Assessment
- Dealing with an Unconscious Casualty
- Perform Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) (Adults, Baby & Children)
- Bleeding & Wounds
- Seizures
- Shock
- Choking
- First Aid for Minor Injury’s e.g. Cuts & Scrapes
- Head Injury’s
- Eye Injuries
- Asthma
- Poisoning
- Meningitis
Assessment
The course is assessed by a continuous assessment of the students progress throughout the course.
