is aimed at those who use substances hazardous to health
at work and introduces participants to the hazards
associated with those substances, the risks involved and
the controls available and what to expect from a COSHH

Introduction
Employers and the self employed have a legal duty to assess health and safety risks. Anyone carrying out a risk assessment needs to have the necessary knowledge and skills. This qualification ensures that supervisors and managers have the necessary depth of understanding to enable them to carry out risk assessments.
Duration
The duration of the course is 7 hours. We usually aim to start the course at 9.00am and therefore taking into account time for refreshment and lunch breaks, the course usually finishes around 5.30pm. We are able to deliver these courses, often at short notice, to companies, organisations and groups of individuals at any time. Following the course, candidates are required to undertake an assignment consisting of a risk assessment of a designated workplace. Candidates are required to complete the course, assignment and self-evaluation achieving 60% or more in order to receive a Chartered Institute of Environmental Health Risk Assessment Certificate.
